What would your life look like if you followed the invisible strings?
It can be surprisingly difficult to know what we actually want.
We grow up inside ideas about what a good life looks like. What counts as success. What we should prioritise. What is sensible, impressive, realistic or responsible. Some of those ideas serve us. Others become so familiar that we stop noticing they were ever given to us at all.
And underneath them, our own experience keeps speaking.
Through desire. Restlessness. Curiosity. Envy. Creativity. Discomfort. The idea that won’t leave us alone.
For artists, those questions can become tangled up with the work we want to make and the lives we want to build. How we want to create. What we want to give our time to. What success means to us. What might be possible if we allowed ourselves to do things differently.
Sometimes we can feel the pull towards something different long before we understand what that difference is asking of us.
Invisible Strings Studio exists to explore what happens when we start paying attention to that pull.
The signal is still there
Even when it’s difficult to hear, something in us keeps noticing.
What feels alive. What keeps pulling at our attention. What we want to make. What no longer fits. What we find ourselves imagining when we stop asking what would be sensible.
The problem isn’t that the signal disappears. It’s that it can become difficult to distinguish from everything layered over it: expectation, fear, habit, old stories about who we are and ideas about how our work and lives are supposed to look.
Tarot sits at the heart of Invisible Strings because it gives us a way to look beneath those layers. The cards can interrupt the stories we already know how to tell, draw our attention towards something we hadn’t considered and open questions we might not have thought to ask.
Not to tell us what the signal means or what we should do with it, but to help us hear more of what is already there.
A different way of listening
Invisible Strings Studio is built around tarot, creativity and the belief that we can learn to hear ourselves more clearly.
Tarot gives us a way to look deeply. The cards can take us beyond the answers we already know how to give, helping us notice patterns, question assumptions and encounter possibilities we might not have reached by thinking alone.
Creativity reminds us that what already exists isn’t all there is. We can imagine something different, experiment with what we find and begin to give new possibilities shape, in our work and in our lives.
For me, being an artist is as much about this way of moving through the world as it is about what we make. Staying curious. Following what feels alive. Being willing to question what we’ve been given and create something of our own.
That’s what this studio is here to support: not one right way to make, work or live, but becoming more able to recognise what matters to you, trust what you find and create from there.
Why I keep coming back to this question
Because I’m living it too.
I’m Stephanie, the artist and tarot reader behind Invisible Strings Studio.
Invisible Strings grew out of my own attempts to work out what I wanted my life and work to look like, beyond what I thought I should want or what seemed like the sensible way to do things.
Building the studio has become part of that enquiry. I’m learning what it means to take my own ideas seriously, to make work in ways that suit me, to question the rules I’ve absorbed about creativity, success and earning a living, and to build something around what actually matters to me.
Tarot has been at the heart of that process. Again and again, it has helped me see something I couldn’t quite see from inside my own thinking, or opened a question that took me somewhere unexpected.
I don’t think there’s a point where any of us finally have ourselves figured out. Our work changes. Our desires change. Our lives change. New questions appear.
But I do think we can get better at listening to ourselves, trusting what we find and creating from there.
Invisible Strings is the studio I’m building around that possibility.
